plans
First, something unrelated to the subject:
A good friend of mine and recent acquaintance have fallen madly-deeply-head-over-heels in love. I'm really incredibly happy for them. Seeing people fall in love is nice, but it also reminds me of my loneliness. Then I rationalize the extra loneliness away and feel overall happy.
Ok, here's a scene that could be a part of a movie. One of the movies that covers a person's whole life, even if the person is fictional. It's the sort of scene the person won't forget, and therefor needs to be in the biography.
Two people, let's call them Alice and Bob, are walking down a road talking. From earlier in the movie, you know they each have experience working at various jobs behind-the-scenes in theatre. You also know that they are going to graduate college soon, with degrees in fields they don't really like but had to finish because they were already beyond the point of no return.
Bob: I've got this grad student thing set up, but it's not really what I want to be doing. I don't really know what I want to be doing.
Alice: Well, if that's not what you want to be doing, go explore and try some other things.
Bob: I'd kind of like to work on some big shows... get back into theatre or maybe into movies. Dot it professionally for a while.
Alice: If you want to do work like that, what you really should do is go to school again and get a B.S. in Technical Theatre or maybe Stage Managing. Without a degree in the field, those are really tough to break into and succeed at.
Bob: I don't want to have to start over like that though.... I would love to work on some big shows. Maybe be a props master at a studio. "We need 1920's flapper outfits for 19 women." "We need 250 extras to be fitted with matching Foreign Legion uniforms and weaponry." Stuff like that, and I'd get it for them.
Alice: I would like to work on big shows too. I like being able to make people happy by making a show come together.
Bob [getting more excited]: Yeah, being able to stage manage a big touring show could be cool or something else like that.
Alice: I would like to work on bigger shows than that.
Bob: Like what? Multi-million dollar Hollywood things?
Alice: No, bigger. A really big show, something like Governor.
